Laennec: a rapidly evolving university hospital district

The Laënnec district, located around Avenue Rockefeller in Lyon’s 8th arrondissement, is a medical and academic area, home to the Lyon Sud University Hospital – East Site, the Faculty of Medicine, the ISPB (pharmacy), and several paramedical schools.

It is primarily a functional neighborhood, geared toward students, researchers, and healthcare professionals. The atmosphere is relatively quiet, but relatively quiet outside of university hours. There are a few shops, student residences, and affordable housing, often popular for medium-term stays.

The T2 tram and the D metro line (Grange Blanche) provide quick access to the city center.
